INVITATION
We invite all those who work for the mental health and social
rehabilitation of mentally ill homeless and socially excluded people
to the 10th SMES conference in Rome 2008. Together we will review the
ideas and experiences developed over the last 15 years, especially about
:
community
care and outreach
work
and social inclusion
migration
and citizenship
We want to help build a European community for all !
OBJECTIVES
SMES
began in 1992, with a small conference in Rome.
Since
then, 9 further European conferences have been held to promote the
critical exchange of ideas and experiences between professional and
voluntary workers in the following areas:
'Model' of society and
health/mental health
system';
Practical
skills and procedures
Proposals
for future projects and interventions
Highlighting
the disgraceful plight of the homeless mentally ill in Europe.
FOCUS
The 10th SMES Conference intends to focus critically on
the following areas:
-
MENTAL HEALTH : Care and cure, inside and outside; the
dialog and interaction
between the various sectors supporting health and mental health in
the community
-
WORK : The problem of participation and work for the socially
excluded people.
-
MIGRATION : The access of migrants to health and social
services and the rights of citizenship.

of double exclusion: mental illness and
a condition of serious poverty.
In these 1st Round Table
the experts from different European countries, exchanging
knowledge
