Personal background Having trained and worked as a technical designer for a heavy engineering company, initiated a career in social assistance by taking a two year Red Cross training course for nursing assistants in 1985. A few years later became involved with a British charity “Health Aid UK and helped to establish a long term project regarding the care of  + HIV children, family type communities and counselling for abandoned +HIV/AIDS children/families; among other projects established the Bucharest nursing school in 1991 educating Romanian student nurses to British standards. Five years later employed as a programme co-ordinator by a Romanian NGO, the Casa Ioana Association. Responsibilities included project design, the management of projects implementation stages, implementation of the project monitoring and evaluation systems. Responsible for managing EU Phare/Access and EU Phare Civil Society Development Programmes. Participates in numerous European forums, seminars and workshops on homelessness, poverty and social inclusion. Romanian member in the EC project - Group of non-governmental experts in the fight against poverty and social exclusion.
